How import and export tools work

INTENDED SEARCHES: import, export, upload spreadsheet, download data, data import

Import and export tools are used to move data into or out of TabulateCRM.

Use imports only when the data is prepared carefully. Bad imports can create duplicate customers, wrong addresses, wrong pricing, or broken reporting.

Fields/options you may see:

- File name.

- Import type.

- Dry run or test import.

- Column mapping.

- Total rows.

- Processed rows.

- Inserted rows.

- Updated rows.

- Skipped rows.

- Error rows.

- Import status.

- Remarks.

Safe process:

1. Export a sample file or confirm the required format.

2. Clean the spreadsheet before uploading.

3. Remove duplicates when possible.

4. Match columns to the correct TabulateCRM fields.

5. Run a dry test if available.

6. Review skipped or error rows.

7. Complete the import only after the mapping looks correct.

Why this matters:

Imports are powerful but risky. A small spreadsheet mistake can create a large cleanup job. For large imports, contact support before uploading.

Support note:

If the user cannot find the option, sees different fields, cannot save, or receives an error, contact support with the record name, page, action attempted, error message, and screenshot if possible.
