INTENDED SEARCHES: billing engine, standard billing, progress billing, estimate billing type
The billing engine controls how the estimate flows into billing and invoices.
Standard billing:
Use standard billing for normal jobs, recurring services, one-time work, or jobs that flow through the billing queue after completion.
Progress billing:
Use progress billing for project-style work where invoices are based on progress, milestones, earned-to-date, or draw billing.
Progress billing fields you may see:
- Progress mode.
- Retainage percent.
- Milestones.
- Earned-to-date values.
Before choosing, check:
- Is this normal service work or a multi-phase project?
- Will the customer be billed after completion or by progress?
- Does the estimate require retainage?
- Do milestone percentages total 100 if milestones are used?
Why this matters:
Choosing the wrong billing engine can create the wrong invoice workflow.
