How progress invoices work

INTENDED SEARCHES: progress invoice, milestone invoice, retainage invoice, earned to date

Progress invoices are used for project-style billing when the customer is billed in stages.

Progress invoice values may depend on:

- Progress mode.

- Milestones.

- Earned-to-date.

- Previously billed amount.

- Retainage percentage.

- Payments already recorded.

Before creating or sending a progress invoice, check:

- Correct estimate or project.

- Correct milestone or progress amount.

- Previous invoices.

- Retainage.

- Tax.

- Payments.

- Remaining balance.

Why this matters:

Progress invoices must calculate correctly across the entire project. A mistake in one progress invoice can affect later invoices.

Support note:

If you cannot find the option, cannot save the record, see different fields, or receive an error, contact support with the page, record name or number, what you clicked, what happened, and a screenshot if possible.
