How refunds and transaction records work

Modified on Tue, 16 Jun at 7:44 PM

INTENDED SEARCHES: refund, transaction, payment refund, Stripe refund, PayPal refund

Use refunds and transaction records to track money returned to a customer or payment activity connected to billing.

Before processing or recording a refund, check:

- Customer.

- Original payment.

- Invoice or related billing record.

- Refund amount.

- Payment method.

- Reason.

- Whether the refund should affect invoice/payment status.

Why this matters:

Refunds affect customer balance, payment history, reports, and accounting review. Do not guess on financial records.

Support note:

If the customer cannot see the option, cannot save the record, sees different fields, or receives an error, they should contact support with the module, record name or number, what they clicked, what happened, and a screenshot if possible.
