How job costing works

INTENDED SEARCHES: job costing, job profit, cost report, labor cost, material cost

Use job costing to compare the cost of doing the work against the value of the job.

Job costing may include:

- Labor hours.

- Employee or team costs.

- Materials.

- Products.

- Equipment.

- Expenses.

- Purchase orders.

- Invoices or billing totals.

Steps:

1. Open the job costing or report area.

2. Choose the customer, job, project, or date range.

3. Review labor, material, equipment, expense, and billing information.

4. Look for missing costs or incorrect record connections.

5. Use the report to understand profitability.

Why this matters:

A job can look profitable on the invoice but lose money after labor, materials, equipment, and expenses are counted.

Support note:

If the customer cannot see the option, cannot save the record, sees different fields, or receives an error, they should contact support with the module, record name or number, what they clicked, what happened, and a screenshot if possible.
