How inventory and item tracking work

Modified on Tue, 16 Jun at 7:37 PM

INTENDED SEARCHES: inventory, item tracking, materials, purchased item, purchased product

Use inventory and item tracking to manage materials, purchased items, and product-related quantities when those features are enabled.

Common information:

- Item name.

- Quantity.

- Cost.

- Vendor.

- Product relationship.

- Purchased item or purchased product.

- Related project, job, purchase order, or expense when available.

Steps:

1. Open Inventory or Item Tracking.

2. Add or update the item.

3. Enter quantity and cost carefully.

4. Connect the item to vendor, job, project, or purchase order when needed.

5. Save the record.

Why this matters:

Inventory affects purchasing, job costing, and reporting. Wrong quantities or costs create bad profitability reports.

Support note:

If the customer cannot see the option, cannot save the record, sees different fields, or receives an error, they should contact support with the module, record name or number, what they clicked, what happened, and a screenshot if possible.
